Version 9 Upgrade Guide

Server Infrastructure

Before upgrading to Hub version 9, we recommend reviewing your current Docman Hub server resources and ensuring they conform to our recommended server specification. The server specifications can be found in the Docman Hub Architecture document.

 

You should also discuss Hub installation recommendations with your engineer to discuss drive layout and usage.

 

Test Document & Database Migration

As described in the Release Summary, documents will no longer be stored inside the database and therefore need to be extracted and moved into a secure folder location. As well as the document export, the database platform version is upgraded from MySQL 3.56 to 5.6.

 

Before doing the live upgrade we need to run a document export and a database upgrade in a test environment to estimate how long it will take to export all documents from the database.

 

You can either run the export & migration on your own Docman Hub test server or on a sandpit environment hosted by Docman.

Testing Version 9

After upgrading your database and documents have been extracted into a test environment, we recommend running a set of simple tests against the new version.

 

On the day we will take the following steps to upgrade the Hub:

 

 

Post Upgrade

After upgrading to Hub version 9 the resolutions team will ensure any issues encountered are addressed quickly and efficiently. All Hubs are regularly monitored post-upgrade.

 

Historic Archived Data

When upgrading to Hub version 9 it’s a good opportunity to talk about historic archived data.

 

It is likely that archived data from when you started using the Hub is still stored on the Hub server.

 

We have a secure file store and have no need to archive data, we can have a discussion around whether you want to remove some of the old archived data to free up some disk space on the server.

 

At the time of the upgrade you can discuss this with your resolution technician.
